My Story

My name is Darby, and I am the owner of Moonlit Petrichor.

I am a dreamer, an animal lover, and goth princess. I spent most of my life finding myself. Growing up I was taught to speak my mind, but also keep my dreams small and live the way the rest of the family lives. I’ve always wanted to be more. I’ve always felt like I could be more. 

For the last few years, I’ve tried to live a slightly more sustainable life. I purchased my first bar of handcrafted soap in 2019 and fell in love. With some help from YouTube and some ambition I learned to make my very own handcrafted artisan soaps. Thanks to my husband and a few friends I was able to start my own business in 2020. I had no idea what I was doing and still have no clue how to get where I need to go. But I’m excited to see where this journey takes me. 

I live in a wonderful small town, called Warrensburg, Missouri. I have a small following of local customers who I appreciate very much. 

Here at Moonlit Petrichor I try to show my personality in everything I offer to you. I’m dark, sparkly, and a tad nerdy. I’m a baby witch still finding my way. I love animals, baking, and pretty things. I won’t bore you with my life story, but I will leave you with a small insight and description of what I hope Moonlit Petrichor to be.

To me, Moonlit Petrichor (Petrichor: The smell of earth after rain) is a magical place that offers luxurious plant-based soaps, wonderful soy candles, and a small selection of other bath and body products, with a hint of Victorian aesthetic and sprinkled with a few nerdy puns, all married together to bring you Me in business form.
